Mel Ydreos, Executive Director, Public Affairs, International Gas Union

Menelaos (Mel) Ydreos is Chairman, Coordination Committee of the International Gas Union for its 2015-2018 and triennium as the United States, with leadership from the American Gas Association, prepares to host the 2018 World Gas Conference in Washington, DC.
Mr. Ydreos currently also serves as IGU’s Director, Public Affairs. IGU’s mission is to advocate for natural gas as an integral part of a sustainable global energy system, and to promote the political, technical and economic progress of the gas industry.
Mr. Ydreos also serves as the Executive Director of Energy Vantage Inc. in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He launched Energy Vantage Inc. after a long career at Union Gas Ltd-A Spectra Energy Company where he held a number of executive positions. He served as Interim President and CEO of the Ontario Energy Association in 2013-2014. Under the IGU’s Malaysian Presidency, he chaired the special task force on geopolitics and natural gas. He was also the Interim President and CEO of the Canadian Gas Association in 2009.
He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Waterloo Institute of Sustainable Energy and has served on the Boards of Pollution Probe and the Canadian Standards Association. Mr. Ydreos earned a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Peter Keller, currently an Executive VP, joined TOTE Inc., in February of 2012 as president of TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and has been leading the conversion of the company’s fleet to liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Mr. Keller has extensive experience in port and terminal development, liner industry activities, labour relations, intermodal operations and supply chain economics and strategies.  He has also been involved in merger and acquisition strategies and tactics, public private partnership development and has advised many senior industry executives.

From 2000 until 2010, Mr. Keller was EVP and chief operating officer of NYK Group Americas, Inc.  In this capacity he oversaw policy matters for all the NYK Group operating companies in North America that included NYK Line, NYK Logistics, Yusen Terminals and Ceres Terminals.  Prior to that assignment he was president of NYK Line (North America) Inc. and a member of the governing board of NYK in Tokyo. He is only the second non-Japanese nominated to the Governing Board in the 125 year history of NYK and was the first to be named president of NYK Line (North America).

Mr. Keller was a member of the board of directors of the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), the Pacific Maritime Shipping Association and the United States Maritime Exchange (USMX).  He is also a founding father of the Intermodal Transportation Institute of the University of Denver. He served for many years as chairman of OCEMA, the Ocean Carriers Equipment and Maintenance Association.

Together with Target Stores and TTSI he was a founder of the Coalition for Responsible Transportation (CRT), now an industry-wide organisation committed to environmentally responsible practices across the supply chain.

Peter Keller was inducted into the International Maritime Hall of Fame in 2006 at the United Nations in New York.

Diego Goldin, Executive Director, NGV Global

Since February 2013 Diego Goldin serves as Executive Director of NGV Global, formerly known as the International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles. He is responsible for implementing the association’s strategic plan, strengthening member relations, leading member recruitment activities, and overseeing the management of the association.

Goldin commenced his career in the automotive industry after graduating as an electromechanical engineer from the University of Buenos Aires in 1980. He served as technical liaison between Mazda Motor Corp. of Japan and their Argentine distributor and went on to become Assistant Manager of the Technical Department in charge of warranties and technical communications.

In 1984 he entered Gas del Estado, the Argentine National Gas Company, as part of the team tasked with developing the Argentine Compressed Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) Program. He was named leader of the group shortly after. In 1986 Gas del Estado designated Goldin as the Argentine delegate to the inaugural meeting in Vancouver, Canada, of NGV Global.

Working as an independent industry consultant since 1991, Goldin has assisted several automotive companies including Fiat and General Motors with their NGV programs. Since 2011, he has provided support to IVECO Argentina for their NGV program in Argentina.

A past Secretary of Argentina’s national NGV association, the Cámara Argentina de GNC, Goldin has committed much of his working life to the development and implementation of industry standards for natural gas vehicles, working as Technical Advisor to governments and non-governmental organizations including NGV Global, both in Argentina and Latin America and around the world. He has participated of numerous conferences on the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel and made presentations to government officials interested in NGV development in several countries (e.g. Chile, Uruguay, Trinidad & Tobago, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, South Korea, India, Czech Republic, USA, Canada, Israel, etc).

Graduated in 1990 as Mechanical Engineer at Politecnico di Milano, he started as research engineer at IFP (Institut Français du Pétrole) working on the development of Internal Combustion Engines fed with alternative fuels.
He joined Centro Ricerche FIAT in 1997 where he was in charge of the development of Natural Gas engine technologies for passenger cars and, later on, also for Heavy Duty applications.
During the years, he took different positions dealing with the R&D programs addressing the engine technologies development and the use of Alternative Fuels, being involved in several EU funded projects.
Since 2013 he was responsible of the Collaboration & Strategic Programs area within R&T (Research & Technologies) division of FCA Powertrain Engineering for the coordination of the collaborative programme actions for the EMEA Region, with the aim to develop public funding operations in the domain of the pre-competitive research.
Since several years, he is member of the Expert Group on Fuels & Energy as well as on Powertrain within the EUCAR association and CRF representative in the Energy & Environment Working Group within ERTRAC association.
Starting from March 2017 he has been appointed new Secretary General at NGVA Europe in Brussels.

Howard Levinsky is Senior Principal Specialist in Combustion Processes at DNV GL Oil and Gas, and Professor of Combustion Technology at the University of Groningen. He is a specialist in elementary processes in gas combustion, studying ignition phenomena and the relation between flame structure and pollutant formation using laser-spectroscopic measurements. Understanding the effects of fuel composition on end-use equipment based on first principles has been a recurring theme in his research for more than 30 years. Recent work in his group varies from research towards characterizing the physical-chemical processes responsible for engine knock for stationary and LNG engines to providing the technical foundations for policy regarding the introduction of “new” sustainable and natural gases.

Since 2014 Marc Perrin is Senior Program Manager for LNG R&D at ENGIE Lab CRIGEN. He has a long term experience of industrial R&D associated with practice on projects development and engineering.

After an Engineering Degre at ENSAM Paris and a PhD in Energy Sciences from « Ecole Centrale Paris », Marc Perrin joined the R&D Division of “Gaz de France” in 1984. After a 2 year assignment as “Visitor Scientist” at the Combustion Research Facility of the Sandia National Laboratories, Livermore, USA, he headed for 10 years the basic research team on natural gas combustion made at Gaz de France.

In 2000, he joined the Engineering Centre of the National Transmission and Storage Grid (today DI at GRTgaz), in charge of the Rotating Machinery Group where his was involved in the Project Review Team of the SNOHVIT Liquefaction Project.

In 2005, he joined the Energy Services Branch of GDF SUEZ (COFATHEC then COFELY), in charge of Business Development of CHP projects including Biomass Gasification and Digestion.

Frank Haberli, Group Vice President, Business Development, Hexagon Composites ASA

Dipl. Ing. Frank Haeberli is Group Vice President Business Development for the Norwegian Hexagon Composites Group.

Until 2016 he headed the Mobile Pipeline® Division for Nebraska-based Hexagon Lincoln, a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites. He joined the Group’s Norwegian subsidiary Hexagon Raufoss in 2005, and held leading positions within the sales management of Type 4 CNG cylinders and storage systems until 2013.

Mr. Haeberli is very familiar with European and international CNG city bus and passenger car applications and the related safety standards. He was the driving force to develop the first composite CNG transportation units built by Hexagon in 2006 for the Asian market. Since then, Hexagon has participated in the majority of global projects supplying compressed natural gas beyond the pipeline.

Frank Haeberli holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in law from German universities.

In strategic planning, he had been a key player in implementing commercial strategies focused to increase sales in corporative clients and stations of CNG, as well as hands-on planning commissioning, successful start-ups and mechanical maintenance programs for NGV stations.

Matthew Godlewski is the president of NGV America, the national trade association dedicated to the development of a growing and sustainable market for vehicles powered by natural gas. Mr. Godlewski has more than 20 years of experience developing and executing strategic plans, building effective teams and interacting with government officials to shape policy at all levels of government.

Before joining NGV America, Mr. Godlewski served as Vice President of State Affairs at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a national trade association representing twelve automakers including BMW Group, FCA US, LLC, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz USA, Mitsubishi Motors, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Cars North America.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Mr. Godlewski served as Director of State and Federal Policy at Pernod Ricard USA, a division of the Paris-based Pernod Ricard spirits and wine company. In that role he led successful efforts to expand consumer access to company products and coordinated state policy channels within the corporation.
From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Godlewski served in the Global External Affairs Office of Seagram/Universal Studios, where he managed complex state and federal regulatory matters related to beverage alcohol, intellectual property and freedom of speech.
Mr. Godlewski is a veteran of several political campaigns, and dedicated eight years to public service through various positions in the Michigan legislature, beginning in 1988. From 1996 to 1998, he worked on various financial services, entertainment and beverage alcohol franchise issues at Michigan’s leading public affairs firm

Neel is an early pioneer in the NGV industry, obtaining government certification in 1992 for one of world’s first plastic-lined carbon composite NGV fuel tanks. Since then he was responsible for designing, developing and commercializing fuel systems, delivering tens of thousands of CNG and hydrogen systems to major automakers and truck companies. Currently he serves as the Senior Vice President of Global Product Portfolio at LightSail Energy, where he developed and certified high capacity pressure vessels for compressed air energy storage. Prior to joining LightSail in 2013, he was with Quantum Technologies for 17 years, with 7 years as their CTO. He served as a member of the Advisory Council for Alternative Energy at CSA International, and as a member of a number of US, and Canadian committees to develop standards related to alternative energy. Dr. Sirosh holds several US and international patents and co-authored three books on the application of composites in energy storage. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada, MBA from the Paul Merage School of Management, University of California, and BE (Honors) from the National Institute of Technology, India.
